As the center point of campus, it makes sense that the HUB would be a popular place for events throughout the year. Personally, my friends and I frequently take advantage of the free Late Night activities offered there on the weekends. Whether we are watching newly released movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Moana, and Split in the auditorium or painting free canvases downstairs, each weekend has something new to offer. If you like activities like swing dancing or want to learn, they have that too! It’s a great thing to keep your eye out for if you are bored or the weather isn’t cooperating. Look for Late Night posters in your dorms, commons, online, and in the HUB itself!
Free concerts by artists like Saint Motel, Boogie wit da Hoodie, Brothers Osborne, and more are held throughout the year. Other events, like speaker series, are also frequently held in a room within the HUB called Alumni Hall. Additionally, free concert series feature small bands that play for students in the main food area around noon each weekday. If you have a break between classes, it’s a great way to grab some food and relax while listening to some fantastic artists. Other events to look forward to are when groups like Homecoming host all day events in the HUB to promote events. These usually mean free food and goodies so be sure to swing by and enjoy yourself! Activities and events like the ones I discussed are usually advertised by posters in the HUB, just like the Late Night info. The information is also available online thanks to the student programming association (SPA). This is a student run group that helps organize these activities as well large events like the concerts I talked about earlier. Finally, make sure you make it to the Involvement Fair held on the HUB lawn during the first week of class (see Cynthia’s welcome week advice for more info)! Hope to see you all enjoying yourselves at these many fun and free events throughout the year! :)
