Your Guide to Penn State Varsity Sports!

There are so many different sports fields and arenas scattered across Penn State’s campus. It can be easy to overlook them all! With that said, if you have a favorite sport, Penn State probably has a team for you to watch! Everything from football to volleyball to Quidditch, there are games for you to attend. This is a guide to some of the many different places you can attend sports games. Not all sports are covered in this guide, but if you are looking for something specific, www.gopsusports.com is sure to have schedules available for whatever your interests!
To start off, this guide gathers some of the more popular sports amongst Penn State students. Even if you don’t think you will like a certain sport, grab a group of friends and give one game a chance!

Beaver Stadium

Beaver Stadium is the home of our incredible football team! You preorder your season tickets over the summer, but if you missed it, no worries! There are usually tickets available on the Student Ticket Exchange. There are few things in life you can compare to the energy of a Penn State football game, so even if football is not your thing, try to make it to one game just for the experience!
Beaver Stadium also hosts the Blue and White game in the Spring, which is a popular weekend for alumni and tailgating!

Bryce Jordan Center

The Bryce Jordan Center is home of both men and women’s basketball teams. Season tickets are available for purchase for these teams as well. The season starts late fall and continues through late winter.

Pegula Ice Arena

Pegula is the ice rink home to the men and women’s hockey teams! This season is similar to basketball, starting late fall and going through late winter. The student section at hockey games, known as the Roar Zone, always has tons of chants to support our team, so consider attending these games! Season tickets become available early in the semester for purchase.

Jeffrey Field

This is where men and women’s soccer teams play their games! Most games are free of charge to see, so if you are a soccer fan, go enjoy the games throughout the fall!

Rec Hall

Rec Hall hosts many different sports throughout the semester including men and women’s Gymnastics meets, men and women’s volleyball, and wrestling! There always seems to be something going on here to attend, so be sure to check it out!

Dining on Campus 101

Living in the dorms as a first year student dining on campus will become routine, but it doesn’t have to be a boring repetition of bland meals two or three times a day. With a few tips, you can learn how to make the most from dining on campus without spending all your meal points in the first semester.

Meal points are the primary currency at the dining halls on campus. You can use meal points at any dining hall, including the restaurants at the Hub! At the Hub, you have options like Chick-fil-a, Sbarro (an Italian place with pizza and pasta), Panda Express, Burger King, and more! The Hub can be very crowded at lunch time, so if you only have a half hour between classes, consider a quicker option, like getting lunch at the nearest dining hall.
***Be Careful: At the Hub, you don’t get the same discount you get at the dining halls, so eating at the Hub can be expensive.
Another great tip is that you can monitor how many meal points you have. You can do this by logging into eliving.psu.edu to ensure you aren’t spending more than you have budgeted. You can also change your meal plan level. If you feel you have to much you can drop into a lower level meal plan or if you don’t have enough money you can always increase your level meal plan. You can get a full refund of any meal points you haven’t spent as long as you remember to change your meal plan level on the eliving website.
All dining halls give a student discount, making it much cheaper than the HUB restaurants. Each set of resident halls have a few different places within the commons area that you can choose from. Be sure to check the hours for each one! Some open starting at lunch during the weekdays and on weekends breakfast in the dining halls doesn’t open until 10:30.
***Helpful hint: Download the Dining@PSU app to access the menus for all the dining halls on campus, as well as the hours for each place

Using your menu app, you can always know what’s being served at every dining hall up to a week before. It can be monotonous to visit the same dining hall, so checking the menu and frequenting other places can help change up the routine.
