(1) It could be unbearingly hot until the end of September
OR
(2) It may actually stay in the 50s/60s for the months of September and October.
The key to surviving PSU weather is LAYERS! I can’t stress this enough ladies... you’re probably going to want to bundle up in the mornings (especially fall leading into the colder months) and then you’ll more than likely end up in a tank top by the end of all your classes. I’m a very warm person in general, so I usually try to get away with wearing my summer clothes until the end of September.
Winter can get a little crazy at Penn State. If you’re lucky enough to experience a snow day, make the most of it. Make sure you bundle up for the winter. I definitely recommend a GOOD pair of snow boots/uggs (even if they’re ugly). You need something to trek around through 3 months of snow in. This past winter was a wicked one! We saw snow in State College for about 3-4 months. You may not see grass until May, you never really know what you’re going to get. Once you think it’s gone, it comes right back! Invest in a REALLY WARM winter jacket. You’ll definitely get your moneys worth out of that. Don’t worry if you don’t come to college with it because you won’t need it for a few months. This past spring it really never got too warm. It seemed to be winter up until the end of finals for some reason. If we’re lucky enough that it stops snowing before finals then make sure you have your summer clothes again because it can get HOT!
